Juice Fast - Day 7: Energizing Juice Recipe with Nutrition Facts

Day 7!!!! Whoo hoo, I have made it a whole week!! My skin is looking great and I am looking slimmer. Or as my husband would say sexier ;) I have energy and really only felt like taking a nap once this whole week which was yesterday. That is huge for me because normally I am tired and would Love a nap everyday even though it's not possible. I am going to be eating some fruits and veggies this next week with mostly juicing. This week wasn't easy though so hopefully next will be a liitle easier.

I am going to post one of my favorite Energizing Juice Recipes.  I found this one to be great for Energy and it has Protein in it.  When I started posting on Facebook about my juicing on my personal page people were very quick to express their concern that I am not eating a sensible diet, and I needed proper amounts of carbs and protein to stay healthy.  I found that you can get all of that and more from a diet rich in fruits and veggies, or even fruit and vegetable juice.  Some days I would have around 50g of protein in my juice diet for the day.  I would say that is a good amount.

I found out my Caloric Intake for my age, height, and current weight by going to Loseit.com which is really a great way to keep track of your exercise and eating while trying to lose weight.  There is an app on my phone which allows me to scan the barcode on the package of foods I am going to eat which is nice, although juicing has been a little more time consuming the first time adding my fruits and veggies, but once they are in there it saves the information making it quick to add to your day the next day.

As far as my weight loss goes, I gained .6 lbs from my 181.2 weight yesterday.  Not mad though because I took my first Zumba class yesterday....YAY!!  Zumba is so much fun and a great way to burn calories.  Don't worry I am sooo uncoordinated and still had a ton of fun, so if you are thinking the same way I frist was you will be fine!

Now for the Energizing Juice Recipe to get you ready for that Zumba Class ;)

How Important is Sleep in Weight Loss?

I don't know about everyone else but for me no sleep = hungry!?!?  I don't know why but if I don't get enough sleep I feel like eating constantly the next day.  I wake up and just want to grab the nearest "Snack" in the cupboard.  We all know this is not a Healthy Way to lose weight so what causes it and what do you do about?  Blame it on leptin and ghrelinLeptin who, and Ghrelin what you ask?

That is what I said.  I knew nothing about these Hormones.  I know, I said it "Hormones" the dreaded word for any woman.  I feel like I am constantly battling Hormones throughout the day and now come to find out I need to battle them while sleeping as well......I am no feminist but can't us woman ever get a break?

So I did some research to find out just what is going on and this is what I found at Web MD .

"Leptin and ghrelin work in a kind of "checks and balances" system to control feelings of hunger and fullness, explains Michael Breus, PhD, a faculty member of the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine and director of The Sleep Disorders Centers of Southeastern Lung Care in Atlanta. Ghrelin, which is produced in the gastrointestinal tract, stimulates appetite, while leptin, produced in fat cells, sends a signal to the brain when you are full.
So what's the connection to sleep? "When you don't get enough sleep, it drives leptin levels down, which means you don't feel as satisfied after you eat. Lack of sleep also causes ghrelin levels to rise, which means your appetite is stimulated, so you want more food," Breus tells WebMD.
The two combined, he says, can set the stage for overeating, which in turn may lead to weight gain."

O.k. so I need to get a better nights sleep, but how?

I found this great blog Awake and Living where she goes into exactly what will set you up for a lifetime of Good Zzzzzz's!  No magic pills here.  Just some good advice on getting into a good routine.  And only saving your bed for two S's.....even sneaking in a nap every now and again :)

Healthy Weight Loss Recipe! Low Fat, Low Carb, Low Calorie, High Protein Omellette! With Nutrition Facts.

This Omellete's packed with Potassium, Low in Fat, Low in Carbohydrates, Low Calorie, and High in Protein.  I make this a lot sometimes even for dinner.  It is an original made by me for Me and I am happy to share it with anyone and everyone.
Nutrition Facts for this recipe:

Total Fat           5.86g
Total Carbs      10.19g   (15g Carbohydrates - 4.81g Dietary Fiber = 10.19g)
Protein              23.36g
Sodium             1247.06mg
Calories            213
Potassium         182.4mg

This Healthy Weight Loss Recipe calls for the following Ingredients:

1 Pita (Joseph's Brand made with Whole Wheat, Flax, and Oat Bran)
3 Egg Whites (Egg yolk shown in picture just so you could tell that was the egg whites.  If adding a yolk add 4.5g fat to total under Nutrition Information)
1/2 slice 2% Milk American Cheese
2 oz. Honey Ham (Deli Sliced) then sliced into small pieces
1 c. uncooked Spinach
Non-Stick Cooking Spray

Directions:

Start by warming a griddle or pan and spray with non-stick cooking spray.  I use PAM but of course there are generic brands as well.  Once the griddle is heated add your spinach and let wilt for about 40 seconds give or take a few.  Then add your Sliced Ham and let cook for about a minute mixing in with spinach as you cook.  Mix eggs in separate bowl with a fork and then add to the ham and spinach mixture on the griddle.  Cook for about 2 minutes on each side.  Depending on your heat you may need to turn sooner or later.  Next add your 2% Milk Cheese and remove from the griddle.  You can heat your Pita in the microwave or I like to place it on the griddle each side for about 30 seconds.  Place the Healthy Omelette on top and wrap to eat like a burrito or simply cut into pizza triangles.   Enjoy :)

This picture was taken with only one egg white being used which is why it looks so sparse on the Pita :)

I hope you Enjoy this recipe, if you have tried it I would love to hear what you think!
